The Allahabad Regency is a 100 year old heritage building which needed extensive restoration and redevelopment, and conversion into a viable hotel complex in a large land parcel which had not been exploited properly. SVC added on two more blocks, designing them in the style with which the original British bungalow had been built and integrated the landscape with the original intent, creating a courtyard out of a back yard space, and revitalized the entire complex in a completely contextual manner. Opened 2005, the project is one of many similar restoration jobs undertaken by the practice since 2000, and is representative of another field of architectural work of the firm.
