PEGASUS BAR, CONNAUGHT PLACE
NEW DELHI
1995

__

Located in the heart of Lutyen’s New Delhi in Connaught Place, this little 1000 sft bar was designed in 1995 to complement the heritage value of Lloyd George‘s architecture, and to stimulate the customer to believe he was sitting in a typical English pub, at a time when the bar licensing policy was liberalized in the city . An exercise in intensive interior design, originally inspired by a week long pub hopping trip to London, the Pegasus was a path breaker in the city. Its sheer audacity and depth of detail resulted in the ultimate flattery – it got copied in as many as three places within a few years . Fortunately, it was a “once only” design , and had no branches ,and held its ground till 2007 when the client had to return the site to the original land lord , and it was re modeled into another restaurant .
