Designed in the heart of New Delhi , the SAN MARZANO was the first of five restaurants designed by the practice with a well established brand which had originated in the UK , and had held its ground in the Italian food space in the UK . The project involved understanding the brand’s design philosophy , and transferring its brand image to India , while solving design problems in the tropical climate it was located in . The other SAN MARZANOs were built in Mumbai , Pune and South Delhi . Opened in 1998, the simple yet functional restaurant , designed in the minimalistic style of the times became a rage in the city , and set trends in modern design which held their ground for about a decade .
